Major Scales- 32 Bar Exercises

This is a great way to start a band class or work on learning the Major Scales individually. These packages break down all 12 Major Scales into 8 sections of four bars as follows:

1 and 2= ascending in whole notes
3 = ascending in half notes
4 = descending in half notes
5= ascending and descending in quarter notes
6= arpeggio in half notes
7= arpeggio in quarter notes
8= The end goal! up and down the scale and arpeggio in eighth notes

Players can work at their own pace, for example repeating just the half notes (3 and 4) four times though, or the quarter notes (5) eight times through until they are ready to move on.

Please note that the scale packages are transposed from concert pitch for each instrument, starting on Bb concert and ascending in half steps. This is so multiple players of different instruments can play along together with the same tracks in order (like in a music class). Parts included:

  • Flute (can be used for Mallets)
  • Oboe
  • Clarinet
  • Bass Clarinet
  • Alto Saxophone (can be used for Baritone Saxophone)
  • Tenor Saxophone
  • Trumpet
  • French Horn
  • Trombone/Baritone/Bassoon
  • Double Bass

The accompaniment tracks can be played from or downloaded from here.
